Echevarria. Not that hard or anything.
It is seriously not that hard to pronounce “He,” and yet the first stab at my name always seems to be Sophie Hay.
In Kindergarten I got so tired of hearing the grating “laa-nd” that I sorta accepted the shift towards “lawn” because at least it sounded more graceful. Even though my name pretty much follows the basic English rules (a is for “ah” not “eeeeeh”, right). You fail at your own phonetics, Americans.
Hilariously, almost every other form of English I’ve encountered so far, from British to Spanish-accented to Jamaican, has pronounced my name correctly.
Let’s not even get into the rest of my name.
